its time like these i think that the smallness of NZ really comes out. Absolute numbers distort so many things, including major power imbalances. At least in the UK and US there are strong viable communities able to pushback and make headway - not to say cancelling and outrage doesn't still happen!
I do believe though, that there is MUCH greater support for anti-woke sentiment in NZ, but i do believe most of it is NOT on social media, and in some ways probably unware of it...until it hits their schools.
To cheer you up, please watch this. To say this guy's performance is stunning is an understatement. To think it is so accurate, is very disturbing!
Glad this arrived in my email, Rachel - we're away so not on Twitter until we get back. Nothing much to be said really, other than yes, the MSM is awful. Cancel culture is real and awful. I think the future for NZ and the West is really dark and there's no way to save it. Cop out I know, but I'm lucky to have put savings aside, so Pauline and I have largely cancelled ourselves; I've resigned from my professional body (they put Covid passports on regional meetings and conferences so getting enough continuing education points became hellish, and I've grown to hate the job anyway and have been firing clients for the last two years, and will continue to do so now): we're effectively just looking at the nice scenery from the bottom of wine bottles enjoying the company of old friends who have stuck by our unvaccinated selves, and new friends we've made since the Traffic Lights were forced on us. There's a lot worse things. Although we are for the first time really seriously looking at leaving NZ for UK, where life is freer than here, by a large margin. Not sure what I'm saying really: no, the most important thing: you are right. JK Rowling, thank god for her, is right. You're all right. But that Lia Thomas doesn't make the world wake up to its insanity, consigns modernity to the scrap heap of history's diabolical bad turns. I may one day rationalise how a majority became so stupid, but I doubt I'll ever understand it.
You've been through the mill: but you have friends also in this twilight digital space. And it's your producer friend above who has chosen the debilitating life of the slave. Mark Hubbard.
Well said. I hope you write more often on this format as I have been permanently suspended from Twitter. They figured out that BTruckie was the artist formerly known as Taylorom5 (also permanently suspended).
Isn't hypocrisy the name of the game? "Clean, green, NZ" where giardia in the rivers is blamed on dirty tourists, and where the ENTIRE income is based on non-sustainable enterprises like dairy and international tourism (you think those planes don't emit, just cause they're flying in and out of here?). And where token support is given to breastfeeding and the women who do it, while profiting from Chinese infant formula use from NZ cows, even though billions could be saved in the health system here if WHO guidelines were followed? And where woke midwives and breastfeeding groups can't figure out which sex can have babies (and if you dare to state the bleedin' obvious, you will face the wrath of the wokerati). Aaargghhh!!!
Excellent article, how can commonsense be "beaten" into people. Unfortunately it can't it comes via one's experience growing up, how one learns is being exposed to life as a child, the big starting point, and kids just aren't anymore, people are too scared of so many things, it seems life itself.
This sort of carry on is disgusting!! Alas Trans have become so powerful with this cancel culture way. All commonsense dicussion and political policies are influenced and created with a one sided perspective. Transsexuals have pulled away from Trans as we have also been isolated and canceled for speaking from actual experience and reason.
As a good Tranny friend of mine said 'Eventually they will implode'. My concern is the damage being done before that happens.
Tick tock muhfuhs. We see you. #Glovesoff #NEVERSurrender bc I'm a professional nobody I can't be cancelled, so I speak up. Also, I'm waha Nui lol. Glad to read you're back!
I'm new to your site by way of The Platform. Your inspiring words arrived at the right time to quieten the monster in me which was aroused after paying $7.50 for a block of butter on special and getting into an argument at the Smallville supermarket checkout after refusing to stand with the milling rabble in what many consider to be a line. They called me a bully, I suggested "Fortune favours the brave."
Your article should strike deep concern in any fair minded heart, unfortunately more people are driven( or led) by ideology rather than truth fairness or wisdom
I thought you'd been quiet! Well, Twitter is so fucked up I do wonder what I'm doing on there. What they've done to you is just another example of where things are headed. Free speech is dead.
I so want to be out of NZ but I know that the world is heading for a big showdown no matter where I go. No escaping what's coming. Are you still off to Britain?
I'm 60 in November so it feels a tad too late to start over so guess I'll be riding this new era of weirdness out until I'm swallowed by the black. In the meantime I intend to laugh, drink, love and live. And hang out with dogs as much as possible. I like them.
Thanks for the message. I do hope we can meet up one day, and thanks for the accounting advice you gave a couple of years back - saved me heaps!
Yes, still heading for UK. But we can't while my mother is alive and in care with dementia, plus we have a very old pooch who it's not fair to put in a plane hold for a terrifying 24 hours, so she gets to live her wee life out naturally, then we're off (oh, pending Pauline's health also: I'm 56, P is a 'little' bit more :) Pauline want's to go more than me, but we're both totally over it (work also))... Ever around Marlborough in the meantime look us up. [One email I always look at and won't get rid of is markhubbardltd@gmail.com ... so you can get me on that if in the area.]
Absolutely gobsmacked - even though knowing trans activists as I do, I shouldn't be. The sooner they are countermanded by more and bigger voices, the better. Thank you for showing them up again for what they are. There are those of us also working against their bullying ways.

Well said Mark. You indeed have been a friend in this digital space. And it is appreciated.

Only women bleed, only women breed. LOVE IT, will almost certainly pinch it...
You're welcome to. I think it's mine and original but you never know.
I think the fact they target you so hard is a clear sign you are doing great work. Please keep it up, I think you're great.
Chur!

Thanks Racheal for your knowledgeable feedback.

I like the idea of fighting in the trenches with you. Thanks for the support Rex.

Well, that made me laugh. God knows how much we need that these days.

I understand everything you've said. My dog is 12 now. My responsibility to her is paramount.
I'll be looking you up alright.
Go well, my friend.

God imagine letting a journo in 2022 decide what makes it into the final cut of your film. Weak.
Clearly she doesn't back her own film. Not really.
