its time like these i think that the smallness of NZ really comes out. Absolute numbers distort so many things, including major power imbalances. At least in the UK and US there are strong viable communities able to pushback and make headway - not to say cancelling and outrage doesn't still happen!

I do believe though, that there is MUCH greater support for anti-woke sentiment in NZ, but i do believe most of it is NOT on social media, and in some ways probably unware of it...until it hits their schools.

To cheer you up, please watch this. To say this guy's performance is stunning is an understatement. To think it is so accurate, is very disturbing!

Glad this arrived in my email, Rachel - we're away so not on Twitter until we get back. Nothing much to be said really, other than yes, the MSM is awful. Cancel culture is real and awful. I think the future for NZ and the West is really dark and there's no way to save it. Cop out I know, but I'm lucky to have put savings aside, so Pauline and I have largely cancelled ourselves; I've resigned from my professional body (they put Covid passports on regional meetings and conferences so getting enough continuing education points became hellish, and I've grown to hate the job anyway and have been firing clients for the last two years, and will continue to do so now): we're effectively just looking at the nice scenery from the bottom of wine bottles enjoying the company of old friends who have stuck by our unvaccinated selves, and new friends we've made since the Traffic Lights were forced on us. There's a lot worse things. Although we are for the first time really seriously looking at leaving NZ for UK, where life is freer than here, by a large margin. Not sure what I'm saying really: no, the most important thing: you are right. JK Rowling, thank god for her, is right. You're all right. But that Lia Thomas doesn't make the world wake up to its insanity, consigns modernity to the scrap heap of history's diabolical bad turns. I may one day rationalise how a majority became so stupid, but I doubt I'll ever understand it.

You've been through the mill: but you have friends also in this twilight digital space. And it's your producer friend above who has chosen the debilitating life of the slave. Mark Hubbard.
