What do you think of the government taking over the management of the waterways? I'm skeptical about everything now, because I've been on this planet for 63 years and seen too much greed and corruption. I admit that I'm cautiously optimistic about this, though, but not sure if that's just because it's taking water management out of the hands of regional councils, and that has to be a good thing.
Er, well, the regional councils are still tasked with enforcement so I'd argue that nothing has changed. Yes, we now have National Standards (arguably toothless) but without proper enforcement it's meaningless. To date they haven't exactly been proactive on that score. No, I'm not cautiously optimistic. or even optimistic. This govt is no different from John Key's govt. Frankly.
